Bits of Reality

A little bit of me

Ok so normally this blog is devoted to The Rennillia Series (as am I)
but in light of my tiny little Memoir being published, I figured why not share a little about myself.
Now I was not at all excited about the idea and to be honest I'm still not. Everyone else thought it was a great idea so I did as I do with all my new ventures-

I took a deep breath and said, "What the Hell."

Here is the intro & first chapter -enjoy!

I was born on May 21, 1976 in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I now Live in Brazoria Texas. Many things have happened in between. Some things have been very Good. Some things have been Very bad. Through it all I have found, Good or Bad, It’s better to Laugh than to Cry. I had a rough start and to be honest, I’m still pretty rough. Strong and determined, I am incredibly thick skinned. It takes a lot to get to me. One thing that is very easily given and received is a sense of humor. Here are some highlights from my life that not only molded me into the person I now am, but make me laugh every single time too.

                  CHAPTER 1
                  National Geographic,
                 DarthVader & a Tumor

In reference to my rough start, we will start there. I was born with a tumor in my bladder. Turns out it’s rather difficult to find something like that out. Apparently the contents of you’re bladder will not show up on an X-ray (At least it didn’t in the 70’s). After numerous doctor appointments a family friend referred my mom to an urologist. I was very young but I do remember getting a toy at my appointment.

Surgery was the next step. Since I was so young the word tumor had no effect on me. Being told they were going to put me to sleep did. Needless to say I was terrified. I remember asking, ‘How will I know when to wakeup?’ I do not recall the answer I was given, but whatever it was, it did not help. Waiting to go into surgery my father held up a National Geographic Magazine. On the cover was a tribal lady. Trying to make me feel better he stated, “Look! There’s a picture of you’re sister!” I laughed and it made me feel better. Not long after that I was called to the back.

Two important things about what transpired next:
     1. If you are getting a shot in you’re butt and the nurse tells you ‘If you don’t relax the needlewill break off in you’re butt’ She’s not kidding! It really will!
2.They will have to remove the needle and youend up with two shots instead of one.

I was taken to another room to be given a shot. I was not the biggest fan of shots so when they tried to give me one in my butt, it took several people to hold me down. The needle broke off. After they removed the needle I was given another shot.

Here’s another side note. If you are in fact amedical professional and a child is afraid. Do not ask them if they would like to be a villain from a movie.

I was then wheeled back to a room. In that room they were going to put me under anesthesia. It was terrifying to say the least.
A nurse asked me, “Have you seen Star Wars?”
           I replied, “Yes.”
As she is placing a giant smelly mask over my face she says, “You can be just like Darth Vader.”
I recall saying, “No. He’s the bad guy.” just before she put the mask over my face.
The surgery went fine, my tumor was removed and I did wake up.
